Our Staff

Our teachers all have early childhood and education degrees. They continue to follow advancements in the early childhood field by attending yearly workshops and staff training sessions. These continuing studies facilitate growth towards offering children new and innovative activities in the classroom designed for their age appropriate development. Teachers welcome parents in the classroom and maintain an open line of communication to keep them informed of their child’s progress during the year. At Risen Savior Preschool we believe that a child’s growth and development benefit from a team effort of teachers and parents working together.

Values

Risen Savior Preschool has a child-centered, play-based philosophy. We aim to promote a positive first school experience for each child. Our developmentally appropriate curriculum for children 18-months to five years of age is presented in a Christian environment, including weekly Chapel time with our Pastor for the 2’s, 3’s, and Pre-K classes.

Our program focuses on developing and sustaining growth in each individual child’s emotional, social, physical, and cognitive skills. Our team, consisting of early childhood educators, creates an environment that supports and develops a love of learning, respect, cooperation, leadership, and the ability to make positive choices. Children develop pride in individual accomplishments and build necessary problem solving skills in our classrooms.

Our goal is to promote learning through discovery. Children are constantly thinking, exploring, experiencing, learning, and testing new skills. As children grow and develop through play, they gain the confidence and independence to prepare them for the next stage of entering into elementary school.

Programs

Mom’s Day Out

The Mom’s Day Out program is for children who will be 18-months old by August 31. This program is offered one day a week, Friday, allowing moms a chance to have some free time while their child is cared for in a safe and loving classroom. The children are encouraged to take first steps towards discovery and interactions with peers.

Two Year Old

Our Two Year Old program introduces the toddler to a nurturing, structured environment, which encourages interactions with classmates. Children must be two years old by August 31. Hands-on art activities, songs, finger plays, and stories are offered in a developmentally appropriate atmosphere. Interactions with peers help children develop socially. Cognitive skills are gained as they explore and discover through play.

Three Year Old

The Three Year Old program is for children who will be three by August 31. Children should be potty trained and independent while using the restroom. Goals for our three year old classroom are to learn to make good decisions about behaviors, to listen to and respect adults, to cooperate and share with other children, to communicate with others about their experiences and feelings, to develop problem solving skills, and to gain early learning skills and concepts through theme based lessons and learning centers. Children will be introduced to numbers and letters, as well as recognizing their name in print.

Pre-K Program

The Pre-Kindergarten class is designed for four-year olds who are ready for the stimulation and routine of a 3 or 4 day program. Children must be four years old by August 31, with the intent of attending Kindergarten in the Fall of the next year. They must be potty trained and have developed the necessary skills to care for their personal needs. Pre-reading, language and literacy skills, letter and number concepts, pre-math skills, and pre-writing skills are part of the Pre-K curriculum. Equally important is developing good communication and problem solving skills. Each child’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development are addressed daily in preparation for the elementary years ahead. Please remember that your child must be 5 years old by the following August 1 to begin Kindergarten in Fort Wayne Community Schools, East Allen County Schools, and Northwest Allen County Schools, and by August 31 for Southwest Allen County Schools.
